وبهذه النتيجة، رفع فريق الهلال رصيده إلى 5 نقاط في المركز السابع بجدول ترتيب الدوري السعودي للمحترفين، متقدمًا بفارق الأهداف فقط عن الأهلي الذي يملك الرصيد نفسه.

"Spectacular" Yildiz impressing in Italy

Despite his age, the Turkey international has managed to establish himself as a key player for Juventus this season, making 31 appearances in the Serie A, during which time he has amassed six goals and three assists.

Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has singled the starlet out for praise too, claiming he has “high on-the-ball bravery to make spectacular solo runs”, while also suggesting he is “almost perfectly two-footed”.

Yildiz could be an excellent signing for Man City, and at 19-years-old he is at the right age to be a long-term success at the Etihad Stadium.

However, finding a suitable replacement for De Bruyne should be City’s number one priority for the summer, rather than bringing in a new winger, given that it will be an extremely difficult task to find an heir for the Belgian.

Before the start of this season, one of the criticisms Arsenal fans often levied at Mikel Arteta was that he didn’t trust youth enough.

After all, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli made their breakthroughs under Unai Emery and Emile Smith Rowe was eventually frozen out of the team.

Moreover, while the former captain has coached Saka into a world-class talent, he and Martinelli are the only genuine youngsters who have become regular first-teamers under his tenure – until this year, that is.

This season has seen Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri become prominent players within the squad, and Arteta has handled their progression excellently.

So, the emergence of another up-and-coming prospect in the academy, who could be the next Nwaneri, should excite fans.

Nwaneri's impressive rise

It was back in September 2022, in a 3-0 win away to Brentford, that Nwaneri was first introduced to the wider footballing world, when at 15 years and 181 days old, Arteta made the teenager the league’s youngest player of all time.

The Enfield-born dynamo made another slightly longer cameo in the club’s emphatic 6-0 win away to West Ham United last season but has truly established himself as one of the most exciting talents in world football this term.

So far, the often “unplayable” 17-year-old, as dubbed by former wonderkid Jack Wilshere, has made 28 appearances for the first team, totalling 1076 minutes, in which he’s scored eight goals and provided one assist.

That means the Hale End star has averaged a goal involvement every 3.11 games, or more impressively, every 119.55 minutes.

It’s not just the goals and assists that have caught the eye of fans and pundits alike, but his overall play, bravery and determination to make things happen whenever he has the ball.

In short, the young dynamo looks like a superstar in the making, so fans should be excited about another prospect coming through Hale End who could be the next Nwaneri.

While plenty of the attention has gone the way of the incredibly exciting Max Dowman in recent months, he’s still just 15 years old, so the chance of him playing even semiregular minutes next season seems low.

However, Dan Casey, on the other hand, is 17 years old and will be 18 in late August, so the chance of him making a debut next year is not farfetched, especially as he could be another Nwaneri-esque addition to the squad.

That might sound hyperbolic, but considering how sensationally well the youngster has fared in the youth teams this year, it might not be.

For example, in just 23 appearances this season, totalling 1507 minutes, the “box-crashing” midfielder, as dubbed by respected analyst Ben Mattinson, has scored 17 goals and provided two assists.

That means the tremendously promising phenom is currently averaging a goal involvement every 79.31 minutes in the academy.

However, it’s not just his output that makes the young star so similar to Nwaneri, but also his versatility.

For example, this season alone, the teenage monster has played in attacking midfield, centre midfield and defensive midfield and has even made appearances up top and off the left.

Ultimately, while Nwaneri is undoubtedly the most exciting youngster at Arsenal this season, don’t be too surprised if you see Casey break into the first team in the coming years.

Out-of-favour Liverpool defensive midfielder Morton has shared his feelings on the 2024-25 season, which he spent at Anfield after consecutive loan spells at Championship sides Blackburn Rovers and Hull City. Morton said it was the "toughest season mentally" for him under head coach Slot, although the youngster also admitted it "could have worked out a lot worse than it did" if he had been sent out on loan to develop further.

Morton made just five appearances in all competitions, none of which came in Liverpool's triumphant Premier League campaign. He underwent shoulder surgery back in February, which saw him miss the rest of the season. However, he made one Champions League appearance, one FA Cup start, and three League Cup appearances, of which he started twice, aggregating a total of just 261 minutes.

Speaking in an interview with the , Morton said: "I think it's been the toughest season mentally for me. Obviously, I've coped with it very well because I've got good people around me, but it's been very tough. I think I've coped with it as well as I possibly could. I think when you're not playing as a footballer who's as hungry as I am, it does hurt.

"It's tough, especially when, in my opinion, I wanted to go out and I wanted to play and I wanted to go on loan and get my game time. But having chatted with the manager, having to stay, it could have worked out a lot worse than it did. It probably could have worked out a lot better than it did.

"It's still been a good season. I've still developed and, as you said, I still feel really sharp and really ready to go."

Liverpool took a huge step towards claiming the Premier League title this afternoon, beating defending champions Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai secured all three points for Arne Slot’s side, claiming their first victory against the Citizens on their home turf in a decade.

The victory moves the Reds 11 points clear of second-placed Arsenal, with just 11 games remaining, looking in a superb place to secure a first title in five years.

It would be a phenomenal achievement by the Dutchman after taking the reins in the summer, providing the perfect transition after Jürgen Klopp stepped away from the role.

Numerous players impressed in Manchester during the victory, playing a pivotal role in moving the side one step closer to bringing the title back to Anfield.

Liverpool’s star performers against Man City

Egyptian winger Salah provided the goods for Liverpool once again this afternoon, getting himself on the scoresheet for the 25th time in just 27 matches.

The 32-year-old also registered an assist for their second goal, making it the 11th game in the league throughout 2024/25 in which he had achieved such a feat.

In a game where Slot’s men only had 34% of the ball, it was pivotal that the backline resisted the pressure from the hosts, something which played perfectly into the hands of Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutchman made nine clearances, eight of which were with his head, winning 75% of the ground duels he entered – maintaining a clean sheet for the 11th time this campaign.

However, despite the performances of the aforementioned duo, one other first-team star produced a magnificent display in the North West, massively boosting their title credentials.

The Liverpool player who may have just won them the title

For the clash against Pep Guardiola’s side, Slot produced a tactical masterclass that saw the Reds switch to a 4-2-4 system, operating without a recognised striker despite having Darwin Núñez and Cody Gakpo on the bench.

It allowed for two false nines to drop into a deeper role along with the two central midfielders, creating a four-man box system in the middle – subsequently outnumbering the hosts in the centre of the park.

Curtis Jones was one of the players who operated in the aforementioned role, along with Szoboszlai – with the latter producing a performance to remember at the Etihad.

Despite the slightly unfamiliar role, the Hungarian international starred throughout, registering a goal and an assist during the victory, linking up excellently with Salah in the final third.

However, his underlying stats were just as impressive, with his numbers undoubtedly edging the side ever closer to ending their five-season wait for a Premier League title.

The 24-year-old, whose display was dubbed “sensational” by journalist Lewis Steele, registered 37 touches during the victory, four of which came in the opposition box, including his strike to double the lead.

Szoboszlai completed 100% of the dribbles he attempted, registering two other efforts on goal, in what was an all-around quality performance within attacking areas.

However, despite his impressive attacking display, he also produced some phenomenal defensive numbers, winning 100% of the tackles he entered, making three recoveries and excelling in the false nine role.

As a result of his showing, Szoboszlai was handed an 8/10 match rating by The Express’ Archie Griggs, further highlighting his impressive showing against the defending champions.

It was a phenomenal showing from the Reds, one that could well prove to be the clincher in their title ambitions come the end of the season.

Salah and Szoboszlai were undoubtedly the two stars at the Etihad, inflicting yet more pain on Guardiola, whilst further showcasing what a superb side Slot has built in a short period of time.
