Dyche must ditch Everton man who’s now worth less than Tarkowski

da cassino: Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, Everton boss Sean Dyche has a huge summer ahead of him, that could potentially impact the club’s ever-present Premier League status.

da bet sport: Although the Toffees produced a phenomenal end to the season which saw them win four of their remaining six matches, the squad could be ripped apart this summer as a result of the looming PSR problems.

The club will have to part ways with at least one big-money player, just to have a fighting chance of avoiding any further punishments, with Jarrad Branthwaite the most likely, having been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.

It will undoubtedly be a huge blow for Everton should he depart Goodison Park, with the 21-year-old excelling, so much so that he’s earned a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man squad for the upcoming European Championships in Germany.

However, the club also currently have a lot of contracted players who are past the level required of England’s top flight, with Dyche needing to brutally part ways with one player to help raise funds.

Michael Keane’s career at Everton

During the summer of 2017, Everton forked out a huge £30m for defender Michael Keane – in the hopes he could be a spare head in the club’s European ambitions.

Keane impressed in his first season at Goodison, starting 30 times over the course of the campaign and helping the Toffees secure an eighth-place finish in the Premier League.

The defender remained a crucial part of the Toffees' backline for the 2018/2019 campaign, with Keane making 33 appearances in the top flight and looking good value for his hefty price tag.

However, he would drop down the pecking order at Goodison following the arrival of James Tarkowski, with his game time dramatically decreasing – Keane only featuring 12 times for a total of just 983 minutes in the Premier League.

Despite his decline the season prior, the 2023/24 campaign has been a new low for the 31-year-old, achieving a tally of just nine starts – with Dyche desperately needing to bin the centre-back this summer.

Michael Keane's market value in 2024

Nearly seven years on from his move to Merseyside, he’s endured a huge drop from the £30m the club forked out for him, with Keane now valued at a measly £1.8m, as per Football Transfers.

Keane, who is "always struggling" according to talkSPORT's Perry Groves, has suffered a drop of over £28m – an astronomical amount – with Tarkowski, his replacement, now worth a staggering £17.6m, less than two years after his free transfer to the club.

The one-time Manchester United man only has 12 months left on his current contract at Goodison, with this summer potentially their last opportunity to sell him before losing him for absolutely nothing.

With Keane – who was reportedly told he could leave in January – on a reported £80k-per-week, as per Capology, the club desperately needs to cut him loose in the coming months, if they are to prevent any big-name departures from Dyche’s side.

Alex Carey for 'injured' Rishabh Pant not a straight swap for Delhi Capitals

Absence of a back-up Indian wicketkeeper has affected the dynamics of their XI at a crucial time

Sidharth Monga12-Oct-2020

BCCI

Delhi Capitals dealt with injuries to two key players – R Ashwin and Amit Mishra – in the first half of the tournament pretty efficiently but the third one seems to have left them, well, hamstrung. Rishabh Pant, who possibly injured his hamstring during their sixth game, didn’t make it to their seventh, against Mumbai Indians, and his captain Shreyas Iyer later said the doctor told him Pant will be resting for a week. This injury proved to be hugely significant because the only other specialist wicketkeeper in the Capitals squad is an overseas player, Alex Carey, which necessitated a double change. To accommodate Carey, Capitals had to sit out Shimron Hetmyer, in whom they had invested six matches and who had started to yield results in the lower middle order. Assuming Pant does get fit in a week’s time, Capitals still have two games to play in that time, and one just at the end of the week. There is less margin of error now that the tournament has entered the second half. On the line is not just a spot in the next round, but a top-two finish, which gives you two chances at qualifying for the final. Here are Capitals’ three options on how to manage Pant’s absence.Do what they did against Mumbai Indians
If they don’t go out of the box, Capitals will have to keep sacrificing Hetmyer and hope that Carey does the job Hetmyer does with the bat. That still leaves them short of the power Pant brought at the most difficult batting position: No. 4. His Indian replacement, Ajinkya Rahane struggles once the field is spread so he was sent in to bat at No. 3, disrupting the flow of the innings and making Iyer sacrificed the position he has flourished in. With two anchors – Dhawan and Rahane – stuck together in the Powerplay, Capitals also had to contend with their leanest Powerplay since their coach Ricky Ponting asked them to show more intent at the turn of the month.BCCI

Make Hetmyer keep
Hetmyer is an occasional wicketkeeper. So occasional that his profile page on ESPNcricinfo doesn’t even mention that. He has started one official List A match and one Under-19 ODI as a designated wicketkeeper. Would you want to give him the big gloves for the quickest of strike bowlers in the tournament and two wily spinners?Even that solves only half their issues, unless they feel confident to play Lalit Yadav ahead of Rahane. Yadav struck at 150 in the last Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but batted only 67 balls, which tells you he is more of a bowling allrounder and thus not quite the ideal replacement for a specialist batsman.Bring in a new keeperIt is highly unlikely another team will lend them a hand by offering an Indian wicketkeeper in a mid-season transfer – not least because teams want to protect their plans from other change rooms – but they have another opportunity available to them. Mishra is out of the tournament, and they can opt for an Indian wicketkeeper. KS Bharat has previously been among their reserves. They could ask for him. Bharat doesn’t have a great T20 record, but struck at 139 in the last Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. There is no other standout wicketkeeper-batsman in the country who is not already in some other IPL squad. Bharat is slim pickings compared to Rahane, but that might free up Hetmyer. However, this is not as straightforward. A replacement player will have to serve the quarantine period and might not be available to play during the week that Pant is estimated to spend on the bench. Still, it is good to keep a back-up ready should Pant not recover in time or should he injure himself again.Given the resources in hand and the logistical issues of flying in a replacement, playing Carey and Rahane might seem to be the most practical option right now. Unless there is a master influential negotiator know that Capitals know who can make another team an offer it can’t refuse. In the meanwhile, Capitals will be hoping that the one-week rest is enough to get Pant back on the park and that they don’t lose the two matches this week.

Liverpool set to open talks with "irreplaceable" player in "priority" deal

da leao: Liverpool are planning to open talks with an "irreplaceable" player in a "priority" deal at the end of this season, according to an exciting update regarding his future.

Liverpool stars out of contract

da 888casino: The Reds could have a busy summer ahead of them, with Arne Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp and aiming to get some important incoming business over the line, upgrading on departing players and finding talent better suited to his own system.

Indeed, there is a lot to sort out when it comes to the futures of so many current Liverpool players, with Joel Matip and Thiago expected to leave Anfield when their contracts run out this summer.

There are three huge individuals whose futures are causing the most concern, though, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah all seeing their current deals expire at the end of next season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold for Liverpool

While there is no indication that any of the legendary trio are unhappy currently, any club in Europe would likely want to sign them, so tying them down for the foreseeable future is vital. Salah arguably feels the most likely to move on, especially if a mammoth offer arrives from Saudi Arabia, but it still feels more likely that the Egyptian will stay put.

Meanwhile, Caoimhin Kelleher could feel that a new challenge is needed in order to become a first-choice goalkeeper – Celtic have been linked with a summer move for him – while a recent report has also suggested that Joe Gomez is weighing up the idea of moving on.

Liverpool plan talks with "irreplaceable" star

According to Football Insider, Liverpool will open talks with Virgil van Dijk over a new deal once this season reaches its conclusion, in what is seen as "A1 priority" business for Michael Edwards and Co.

The Dutchman is seen as an "irreplaceable" figure at Anfield with so much to offer still, and the hope is that he signs on the dotted line as soon as possible, with talks planned for immediately after the season ends.

This is fantastic news for Liverpool, with Van Dijk arguably the greatest centre-back in the club's history, having been such a game-changing signing ever since arriving midway through the 2017/18 season. Within months of joining, the Reds were in the Champions League final, and the Dutchman has gone on to win five major trophies, including the Premier League title.

At 32, the Liverpool captain clearly isn't getting any younger, but given the pace he still possesses, there is no reason why he can't remain a big force for another three or four years. He is still only one year into being Reds skipper, and he will surely feel that this is just the start of that chapter, commenting on his future in recent days.

World No.1 rankings face-off enlivens England, Australia dead-rubber

England will usurp their rivals at the top of the pile if they can complete 3-0 clean sweep

Andrew Miller07-Sep-2020Big PictureBlink and you miss it in the frantic world of T20. Opportunity has knocked twice for Australia in this series – with a thumping great battering ram in the series opener on Friday, and with a polite rap of enquiry in the closing moments two days later. And twice England have peered over the ramparts and drawn up the drawbridge, to take a 2-0 series lead with one to play, and leave their opponents somewhat non-plussed in their first competitive outing since March. But this third outing, however, is a dead rubber with more riding on it than might ordinarily be the case. Next month’s T20 World Cup may be on the back burner, and so this is not the opportunity for fine-tuning for which it had originally been earmarked, but the ancient annals of Anglo-Australian rivalry love a chance for some bragging rights to be put up for grabs. And so it will prove on Tuesday, where England know they will not be satisfied simply to leave with the series trophy in their grasp. The World No.1 ranking is the true objective for Eoin Morgan’s men, an accolade which passed temporarily to them after their six-wicket win on Sunday, but which will be snatched back by Australia if they can end their series on a high.It may be a broadly meaningless bauble controlled by a mysterious ICC algorithm, but the allure of being top dogs is more than merely cosmetic for the hosts. Just as was the case in their four-year journey to becoming the 50-over World Champions, the No.1 spot was a rite of passage that Morgan, and the then-coach Trevor Bayliss, used almost as a stress test.England, they realised, needed to know the full texture of expectation, for until they had learned what it meant to be a team with a target on their back, they could not be ready for the crunch moments that, sure enough, would await them come the biggest stage of all.So this contest is sure to matter, in the same way that England’s whitewash-sealing win at Old Trafford in 2018 mattered. Right up until the moment that Jos Buttler sealed an excruciating one-wicket win with a brilliant unbeaten 110, Australia had looked set to secure a consolation victory that would have been out of kilter with the fare that had gone before it.Buttler, however, will not be present for this contest. He has been granted leave to visit his family, having excelled in the opening two games, and Morgan too cannot be a complete shoo-in either, having suffered a very awkward-looking finger dislocation in the field on Sunday – not that it prevented him from batting, albeit briefly, in the run-chase.They may be a huge pair of personalities to lose from their starting line-up, but England will not mind too much if they are forced to dig a touch deeper and rely on less prominent members of their line-up to front up with the crucial contributions. For as Australia’s own struggles to find a serviceable middle order have shown, sometimes the hardest part of T20 squad-building is giving meaningful opportunities to the men outside of the prime positions. If, in the circumstances, the No.1 ranking has to be delivered by the likes of Tom Banton, Sam Billings (and of course the ubiquitous Dawid Malan), then England will consider this series a job very well done. Especially as you can be sure, in spite of the errors that have derailed them up to this point, Australia will not be relinquishing their hold without a fight.Dawid Malan reverse-sweeps•AFP

Form guide(last five completed matches)
England WWLWW
Australia LLWLWIn the spotlightThere’s no escaping the furious case for retention that Dawid Malan is currently making. Like Jonny Bairstow’s full-frontal assault on England’s established ODI line-up three years ago, there are only so many times you can ask a player to prove himself before, well, he has proved himself. And right now, with 661 runs at 50.84 in his 15 T20I appearances, including seven fifties and a 48-ball hundred, Malan is producing the sorts of numbers that stop arguments in their tracks. Yes, he does have a habit of pootling along to a run-a-ball 10 before finding his range in any given innings, but on balance, the rewards from that early lack of risk are worth factoring in. No-one complained too loudly when Chris Gayle took the scenic route to destruction, did they?On the face of it, Aaron Finch has done little wrong in his two innings to date. With a total of 86 runs from 65 balls, the skipper is the obvious form man in the Aussie ranks, and the likeliest rock of resistance as they seek the consolation victory that will defend their No.1 status. And yet, while the timing of his strokes gives no cause for complaint, the timing of his dismissals has twice had a discombobulating effect on the rest of Australia’s batting. On each occasion he’s fallen just after the halfway mark of the innings, and such is the frailty in that under-tested middle order, it’s offered England’s bowlers priceless traction. And yet, perhaps Finch’s efforts have merely been paling compared to the onslaughts of his counterpart. Buttler’s efforts so far have been transcendent, but he won’t be here this time around. More of the same may yet be sufficient.Team newsButtler’s absence creates a wave of welcome upheaval in England’s ranks, given how many top-order batsman are competing for so few spots. Malan’s No.3 berth would appear to be locked in for the time being, so Tom Banton is the obvious man to resume his opener’s role alongside Jonny Bairstow. Sam Billings is the first-choice beneficiary from the hole that creates in the middle order. It remains to be seen whether Eoin Morgan bows to the finger that he dislocated in the second match – notwithstanding the chance to go to No.1, it might be prudent. Moeen Ali could yet be captain, Sam Curran and Joe Denly could yet get recalls.England (possible) 1 Tom Banton, 2 Jonny Bairstow (wk), 3 Dawid Malan, 4 Sam Billings, 5 Moeen Ali (capt), 6 Sam Curran / Joe Denly, 7 Tom Curran, 8 Chris Jordan, 9 Adil Rashid, 10 Jofra Archer, 11 Mark WoodIf Australia could splice their lower-order batting from the second match to their top-order saunter in the first, they be very handily placed in this series. As it is, they’re 2-0 down and with no obvious areas in which to improve their batting fortunes. Their top four of Warner, Finch, Smith and Maxwell is surely locked in, while Marcus Stoinis’s 35 on Sunday was his highest T20I score, so this would be an odd moment for the selectors to lose faith in what he can offer. Alex Carey, by contrast, has scored three runs from 12 balls in the series so far, but of the men on the bench, Matthew Wade hasn’t kept wicket for three years, while Josh Philippe is perhaps a touch too raw at this stage. The likelier change is a rotation in the fast-bowling department, with Josh Hazlewood perhaps getting an outing before the ODIs.Australia (probable) 1 David Warner, 2 Aaron Finch (capt), 3 Steven Smith, 4 Glenn Maxwell, 5 Marcus Stoinis, 6 Alex Carey (wk), 7 Ashton Agar, 8 Pat Cummins, 9 Mitchell Starc, 10 Kane Richardson / Josh Hazlewood, 11 Adam ZampaPitch and conditionsThe same surface will be used for the third match running, which Malan suggested was partly in anticipation of low, spinning conditions in Asia this winter – the IPL as much as the tour of India, in the cases of players on both sides. The absent Buttler transcended those conditions in both games, but besides him, fluent run-scoring has been hard to come by. The weather is set to be dry, and for a day-night game in September, that’s all you can ask for.Stats and Trivia Chris Jordan needs two wickets to draw level with Broad on 65 T20I wickets, the most for England in the format. Since 2017, Australia have won just one of their last 11 away white-ball fixtures against England, a run that includes eight ODIs and three T20Is. That victory came in the World Cup group match at Lord’s last year.Quotes”We certainly take a lot of pride on being the No.1-ranked team, it’s a great feeling, it’s nice walking out knowing that. That will spur us on but really we just want to win whatever game is in front of us and that’s what contributes to being No. 1.”
“The man that matters is Eoin Morgan, and if he’s happy with the way I’m approaching it, then that’s good enough for me at the moment. That doesn’t mean I’m not trying to improve on that – I always want to improve, so I can keep pushing a case to be in the starting XI.”.”

Arsenal eyeing dream £26m Isak alternative who reminds Wenger of Henry

da mrbet: Arsenal might only be top of the Premier League table due to Manchester City's game in hand, but the Gunners are flying.

da winzada777: Mikel Arteta's side have recovered from their slight stumble against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Aston Villa with three wins on the bounce, including back-to-back London derbies, which is always a great way to get fans back on the side.

The north Londoners are the league's top scorers, with 85 goals to their name. Yet following their festive period dry patch – in which they scored one goal in 63 shots – the common opinion is that they need to add a lethal striker to their ranks in the summer.

One of the names often touted for a move to the Emirates has been Newcastle United's Swedish sensation Alexander Isak, but based on recent reports, Edu Gaspar and Co could have their eyes set on someone else entirely, someone who has won favourable comparisons to Arsenal icon Thierry Henry.

Arsenal transfer news

According to recent reports from Italy – as per InterLive.it – Arsenal are interested in Inter Milan's incredibly talented striker Marcus Thuram and could potentially offer the Serie A champions a swap deal, which would see Gabriel Jesus make his way to Milan.

The report has revealed that if the Gunners did send their Brazilian star to the San Siro, they would expect to pay just €30m – £26m – for the Frenchman's signature, which could represent excellent value for Arteta's side.

The report has revealed that the Nerazzurri would be understandably reluctant to agree to this deal, but if the north Londoners can turn the 26-year-old's head and offer him a substantially higher wage than the £127k-per-week he's on now, they may find it challenging to keep him.

While spending £26m and losing Jesus in the process would represent a hefty investment from Edu and Co, it would pale compared to the supposed £100m they would have to spend to sign Isak.

How Thuram compares to Isak

It's clear that from a financial point of view, signing Thuram for £26m and losing Jesus' wages in one swoop would be a better deal for Arsenal than splashing £100m on Isak, but would that be the best footballing decision?

Would Arteta's team be improved more by signing Newcastle's number 14 or the striker Arsène Wenger described as a "very talented player" and as someone who reminded him of the great Henry?

Well, when looking at the pair's pure output this season, there is little to separate them. For example, the Frenchman's 14 goals and 13 assists in 43 games gives him an average of a goal involvement every 1.5 games, the same average the Toon ace has with his 23 goals and one assist in 36 appearances.

So what about their underlying numbers, then? Can the talented forwards be separated by what's going on under the hood? Well, it's much of the same here, as while the Swedish star slightly edges things, he's by no means clear.

For example, according to FBref, which compares players in similar positions across Europe's top five leagues, the former Real Sociedad star ranks in the top 10% of forwards for progressive carries, the top 11% for successful take-ons, the top 14% for progressive passes and the top 15% for non-penalty expected goals and pass completion, all per 90.

In comparison, Inter's "physical phenomenon", as described by talent scout Jacek Kulig, sits in the top 15% of forwards for assists, the top 16% for progressive carries, the top 19% for successful take-ons, the top 21% for non-penalty expected goals, and the top 22% for touches in the opposition's box, all per 90.

The one area in which there is a clear distinction between the pair is their injury record. Despite being two years younger, Isak has missed 54 games for club and country in his career. In contrast, his potential competitor has only missed 30 games and had a single season in which he missed more than ten games.

Arsenal could land the ideal Jesus upgrade in £51m ace who wants the move

The Gunners are reportedly the talented forward’s ‘preferred destination.’

Ultimately, with not much separating the two strikers regarding their ability, the fact that Thuram is less injury-prone and represents a far better financial option suggests that Arsenal are probably better off signing him over the Newcastle ace, and the fact that he has Wenger's seal of approval can only be a good thing.
