Just 23 years old, Hammar has been a mainstay in the Hammarby side throughout their current campaign, starting 15 of 29 league games and making 30 appearances in all competitions. A player who can play both central midfield and defensive midfield, Hammar could slot straight into Rooney’s side in place of Jordan Houghton or perhaps even Darko Gyabi when he returns to Leeds United at the end of the season.

Providing a defensive foundation in the middle of the park, Hammar would help to shield a backline which has conceded 26 goals in just 15 Championship games so far this season.
Hammar could earn Championship redemption
What is interesting to note is that if Hammar does complete a move to Plymouth in 2025, it will not be his first attempt to break into English football. The midfielder joined Brentford in 2019 but was forced to settle for a place in the B team before leaving back to Sweden and back to Akropolis IF just two years later.
Since that disappointment, however, the midfielder has found his feet back in his home country at Hammarby and could now receive the opportunity to earn redemption in the Championship.
Just how much the Swedish club demand for the 23-year-old remains to be seen, of course, but Plymouth will certainly be prepared to make their move if the price is right, having finalised their scout report.
All eyes will be on survival in the Championship this season and Hammar could more than play a part in achieving that if he completes a move at the beginning of next year.

Now, while that level of output is good enough to play in the Premier League, it is not elite, and the fact that Richarlison both scored more goals and provided more assists than him in fewer games demonstrates that he wasn’t playing well enough to be included in conversations with the leagues best.

In fact, it was pundit and former Spurs player Jamie O’Hara who claimed that the Swede “had a bad season” in May, and based on his underwhelming metrics and inability to impose himself on games throughout the campaign, it’s an opinion that feels more than fair.
However, while all of that might sound unfairly harsh, it is only because of the raw talent Kulusevski has in his locker, and fortunately, he has taken a massive step in the right direction this season.

After his somewhat disappointing campaign last year, there was more pressure than ever on Kulusevski’s shoulders to get back to his best this season, and while it is still early doors, he looks like he has.
So far, the Stockholm-born maestro has featured in eight games, in which he has already scored once and provided two assists, but it’s not necessarily his raw output that has seen him receive such rave reviews, but his overall game, and most crucially, his relocation to the midfield.
Postecoglou has started the former Juventus star in the middle of the park five times so far, and each time, he has looked like the player so many fans knew he could be, someone who helps to control games, keep the ball, and most importantly, create chances, and plenty of them.
For example, in his utterly sublime display at Old Trafford, the “criminally underrated” 24-year-old, as dubbed by journalist Ben Haines, became the first away player to create nine or more chances in a single game for twenty years, and on top of that, he scored an excellent goal of his own.
There may be some out there who would say that it’s too soon to start describing him as a midfielder, but after watching him play in both positions over the last season and a bit, it is crystal clear that when he is playing in the middle of the park, he’s far, far more effective.
Ultimately, Kulusevski is an undeniably talented player, and while he was underwhelming last season, his new role has now made him undroppable, and it’ll be exciting to see how good he can be for the rest of the year.

Marriott has become a well-travelled presence up and down the EFL since his exit from Pride Park, which saw him leave for nothing in 2021 to move to Peterborough, but it’s his impressive form for Wrexham this campaign so far that has really caught the eye.
The 30-year-old has actually outscored Jackson at the Racecourse Ground, with four goals managed for the Red Dragons from eight games in all competitions, as the experienced attacker even picked up the League One Goal of the Month accolade for this sublime effort versus Wycombe Wanderers last month.
The much-talked-about Welsh outfit will just pray that Marriott can keep up this early electric form as back-to-back promotions begin to be eyed up, with the ex-Derby man even a previous golden boot winner at the level – having been hailed as “top class” by former boss Lampard.
If Marriott does continue to fire in goal after goal, Wrexham and Derby might well even face off against each other next season, if Warne’s men also manage to stave off relegation.
It will be an intriguing race to keep tabs on to see who scores the most goals for their respective outfit, with Derby banking on the fact that their shrewd buy can remain consistent in front of goal away from any talk surrounding Wrexham, to ensure they don’t drop immediately back down to League One.
